DJ Kool Herc, known as the "Founder of Hip Hop”, was one of the founding fathers of the culture together with Afrika Bambaataa and Grandmaster Flash. Herc being a native of Kingston, Jamaica, always credits his Jamaican roots for his early techniques and development of the culture.
